What project managers
REALLY need to be successful

Design Studio

Projects fail for many reasons, but the simple fact is that change is hard and large organizations are complex. To be successful in this environment project managers need a higher-level skillset than just project planning, reporting or budgeting. They need to have the power skills that will help them interact with people, solve problems and navigate a project forward. Skills such as stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict resolution might be difficult to master but they are critical to the success of large projects in complex organizations.

Capability development for project managers

PeoplePM® is a behavioral change program that enhances the capability of experienced project managers.

The program's learning methodology uses structured frameworks built around the five PeoplePM® Attributes. The frameworks give participants a simple approach that will change the way they think & act to solve complex problems.

Program participants are taught to use the PeoplePM® Attributes as building blocks enabling them to modify behavior as needed across critical Project Manager Power Skills. For example, a stakeholder management approach based on standard communications may be successful on one project but will not be as successful on another project with a highly erratic stakeholder. Here the project manager will need to adjust behavior and use skills such as anticipation to determine what an erratic stakeholder will want.

The PeoplePM® program is designed to give participants this comprehensive but flexible capability.

AI-proof your project management career with AI

The potential for artificial intelligence to automate many project management tasks is significant. Project administration tasks such as project plan updates, resource scheduling, task assignment, issue tracking and more, are all in the process of being automated through AI. Once AI has mastered these tasks there will be a much-reduced need for a solely administration skilled project manager.

However, higher level skills involving nuanced interaction with other people are much harder for AI to automate. Skills such as stakeholder management, conflict resolution and negotiation are not only hard for AI to replace but they are also critical for successfully managing complex projects in large organizations.

The PeoplePM® Program incorporates AI as an enabler to assist in the development of project management skills. A proprietary AI tool, PeoplePM AI Coach®, has been fully integrated into the program. It not only helps participants work through the frameworks in the training program but can also be used after completing the program to help on problems in real world project situations. In this way, AI does not replace the project manager but rather enhances the capability of a PeoplePM® trained project manager.

PeoplePM AI Coach®

The video below outlines a typical example using the PeoplePM AI Coach® tool. Here a project manager is looking for guidance on how to manage a difficult stakeholder. The project manager enters details into the tool and progressively works through the structured PeoplePM® framework learned during the program. When needed, the project manager can call on artificial intelligence to help generate responses. The end result is that in a matter of minutes a project manager who might not be the best at managing stakeholders has developed a range of actions to help solve a complex stakeholder management problem.

Intellilink (www.intellilink.com) is a global management consulting firm that works with the world's leading organizations to implement major transformation projects.

The project managers at Intellilink have decades of experience managing complex global projects for demanding clients. They developed the PeoplePM® program because they saw that existing project management training was either too heavily focused on low value "admin" PM skills or that typical "soft" skills training was too vague & generic to be of much practical use in the intense environment of complex project management.

The PeoplePM® program has been built by practitioners who know what works.
