Project management is often about getting the right resources to work on the right tasks at the right time. This requires task prioritization. To prioritize tasks effectively I think you need to understand both the importance and the urgency of a task. To assess importance, ask yourself what the impact will be if the task is not done. To assess urgency, ask yourself what is the latest that the task can be done.
